Mold Assessment and Remediation - More Information

The Pacific Northwest is currently seeing a rise in mold awareness and concern, a natural situation considering our climate and infamous wet weather. If you need a professional inspection to determine if you have mold, understand what kind it is or how to remediate an infestation, Alpha is in a unique position to provide support for a wide range of clients. Our mold staff is trained in both inspection and remediation protocol, and our lead person in this area, Bradlee Mertz, is certified by the National Association of Mold Professionals. All samples collected are sent to a nationally certified lab, IMS Laboratory, which is accredited through the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) and participates in Environmental Microbiology Proficiency Testing (EMPAT).

• Residential site inspections.

  This may include sampling of mold or simply a visual site characterization. During this process Alpha will assist you in determining the source issue that may be causing a mold growth, and offer suggestions for remediation.

Alpha will inspect suspect areas and the entire property, including attics, crawlspaces and the exterior of the home for water intrusion signs and other evidence of structural problems. At the request of the client we will use specialized equipment such as a moisture meter to assist us in our search.

If you chose to have a test taken we offer several different sampling services, including air, surface, and bulk. We can customize our inspections to fit your specific financial and site specific needs. These sampling methods can give a property owner a much clear picture of internal and external fungal conditions, and assist in developing a remediation plan if one is needed. All samples are shipped to an accredited lab, and rush orders are available at client request. Once we receive the results Alpha will interpret the results and prepare a report which will be delivered to you, along with the lab report for your files and information.

• New construction inspection.

  If you are a contractor who is concerned about being proactive against mold, Alpha offers inspection and consulting services to assist you in developing and documenting proper techniques that will help a property avoid fungal issues later. Some of the services we provide include moisture surveys and general consultation, as well as documentation of the techniques you are using to create healthier buildings. If you are currently installing fungal retardant building materials or treating "lumber yard mold", we can help you document your efforts as an independent third party.

• Remediation services.

  We can assist you in clean up no matter how small or large. Alpha can provide remediation for projects as large as commercial properties with multiple rooms that necessitate removal and disposal of building materials, and as small as residential structures with very limited growth. We will remove contaminated materials when needed, and treat any mold observed, no matter how difficult it is to reach.

• Drainage systems for disconnected downspouts.

  If you would like to disconnect your downspout or already have done so and would like the drain extended, Alpha can help. We can assist you in ensuring that water is being directed away from your foundation, by installing a drain that extends into your yard.
